Festival Mudra is a celebration of Indian classical dance forms.
The ninth edition of Mudra, the national festival of Indian classical dance incorporating seminars and workshops, is currently on in Thiruvananthapuram.
Organised by the Department of Culture, Government of Kerala, in association with the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, the event, which ends on November 26, is at the Koothambalam at Vyloppilly Samskrithi Bhavan.
On November 23, there will be Bharatanatyam by Seetha Sasidharan (6.15 p.m.) and Kuchupudi by Madhavapeddi Murthy (7.30 p.m.)
Kuchupudi dancer Anupama Mohan continues her lecture demonstration on the theme, ‘Adaptation of Annamacharya krithis in Kuchipudi’ from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the same day.
Madhavapeddi Murthy leads a lecture-demonstration on ‘Contribution of Dr. Vempatti Chinna Satyam in Kuchipudi’ on November 24, 25 and 26.
Son of playback singer Madhavapeddi Satyam, he was a disciple of Vempatti Chinna Satyam for 20 years.
Sushmita Banerjee gives a Kathak performance (6.15 p.m.), followed by Bharatanatyam performance by Parvathy Shyam (7.30 p.m.) on November 24.
The performances on November 25 are Mohiniyattom by danseuse Deepti Omchery Bhalla (6.15 p.m.) and Odissi by Raminder Khurana (7.30 p.m.).
On the final day, there will be an Odissi performance by Ranjana Gauhar anda Mohiniyattom by Gopika Varma.
