High brow

Akshay Kumar wanted to think beyond stubble and goatee while deciding on the look for his new film, Blue. The Rs. 100-crore movie directed by Anthony D’Souza has Akshay playing a suave and shrewd businessman who would stop at nothing to make his dream come true. After much mulling over, Akshay came up with the idea of slashing his left eyebrow to give a mean look!

Dance like Preity

Preity Zinta is the latest actress to take to yoga, swimming and the works (how can we forget the diet?) and trim down. Can’t blame her, considering that Kareena and Rani have been hogging the limelight for their fitness regimens and toned looks. Watch Preity return to the movies, albeit in a ‘special song’ for Salman Khan’s Main Aur Mrs. Khanna, where she nearly does another Khajrare.

Zeenat and Helen are back

The original trendsetters are back on screen. Helen and Zeenat Aman have been signed for a film Dunno YNa jaane kyon. If getting both of them together isn’t enough, the makers have also got on board actor Kabir Bedi opposite Zeenat. Kabir was finalised since he fit the bill of a stylish older actor to be cast opposite Zeenat.

‘Window’ with a view

When you have a good film, all you need is some clever marketing to be seen at international film festivals. While we hear of several Bollywood film-makers having their films screened across the globe, one director has shown what it takes to be consistent. Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Bengali film Janala was premiered in the Masters of World Cinema section at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival. The Toronto festival is almost the second home to the economic professor-turned-filmmaker, as Janala is his sixth film to be featured.
