Concert Mysore Brothers, Manjunath and Nagaraj, captivated the audience with their erudite playing of the violin. Damodar Narayanan

Mysore Brothers, Manjunath and Nagaraj, are violinists who perform magic and create music that evokes euphoria in the hearts of rasikas.

During a recent concert held in connection with the Prathishta Mahotsavam at Sri Mangala Vinayaka Temple in the capital city, the ace duo once again established their unmatched prowess. Their entry into the concert with Natta raga with a pleasing delineation was a class act. It reached a soothing landing when one bowed a Gandharam and the other backed it with a Nishadam.

The kriti ‘Mahaganapathim' was elevated to heavenly heights during a swara session. Manjunath brought out the beauty of Shanmughapriya raga in his broad visthara.

‘Sidhi Vinayakam' set to Roopaka was the kriti. The patterns were exactly replicated by Changanasheri B. Harikumar and Udupi Sridhar on the mridangam and ghatam, respectively.

A summary of delectable Suruti was followed by the lovely Dikshitar composition ‘Srivenkata.' Nagaraj tapped the essence of the Shankarabharanam (main raga), by exploring its kernel and crafting a fabulous portrayal of it.

Tyagaraja's ‘Swararagasudha' sailed through delicate swara surfaces.Their manodharama, formed and executed simultaneously, complemented each other's flourishes in a splendid manner. The long muthaips by the mridangam artiste at the end of the kriti was catchy.

In the traditional format

‘Ennathavam,' which was soaked in Kapi, was presented in the traditional format. The concert concluded with the brisk Thiruppugazh in Hamsanandi and the delightful Lalgudi Jayaraman Thillana in Mohanakalyani. The maestro musicians left indelible memories and lasting impressions on the rasikas with this concert.
