Concert Modumudi Sudhakar impressed the audience with clear diction.
Modumudi Sudhakar of Vijayawada was featured on the penultimate day of Thyagaraja Aradhanotsavam held by Vignana Samithi at Anandnagar Community hall. Modumudi indeed is a soft singer and focuses more on literary content of Thyagaraja kriti, never missing the elements of grammar in presentation. He was accompanied by Suryadeepti on violin, Sadgurucharan on mridanagam and Shyamkumar on Kanjira.
Sudhakar opened with Yedari Sancharintura in rare Shrutiranjani. The repertoire was well set with popular compositions.
Yevarikai in Devamanohari and Rookalu Padivelunna in Thodi were well rendered by Modumudi giving a brief sketch of raga. Entamuddo Entasogaso in Bindumalini was treated as sub main presentation with raga and swara presentation in considerable detail. Sobhillu Saptaswara in Jaganmohini were delightful numbers, before he went for major raga of the concert Kalyani for Sundari Nee Divya Swaroopamu , presented in such a way that every line sank into minds of the audience including the neraval line, merging into swarakalpana part. It was in-depth presentation projecting melody’s magnificent appeal, crafted with well laid out sancharis. So were swaras. It was real exhibition of artistry. What actually won the audience heart was the way he rendered the kriti appealingly. The tani avartanam by Sadgurucharan and Shyamkumar was a show to watch and enjoy.
Earlier in the evening Young Soumya Sreedhar figured in brief concert accompanied by Pavan Singh on violin and Veenadhari on mridangaam.
