Event Varanasi Venkateswara Sarma and B Krishnamachari made their mark as exponents of Annamayya compositions.
Devotional fevour marked the vocal duet of Varanasi Venkateswara Sarma and B. Krishnamachari at Sri Trimoortika Venkateswara temple Visakhapatnam. Disciples of Sangeetha Kala Nidhi Nedunuri Krishna Murthy and popular as Chaitanya Brothers, the duo made their mark as exponents of Annamayya compositions. Ably accompanied by Mavuduri Satyanarayana Sarma on violin, Mandapaka Ravi on mridangam and Anand on table, they began with Hari golichiyu mari aparamula in raga Abheri. Packed with subtle nuances of raga bhava and lyrical import, it set the tone for the rest.
Their accent on melody and comprehensive grasp of the composition and raga being rendered, lent an edge to their rendition. Clear diction and flair for uncomplicated and lilting expression ensured pleasant experience to the audience. With ragas such as Todi, Ramapriya Khamas, Mohana or Revathi, the duo brought out the devotional content embedded in the compositions.
The fare included Aalinchu paalinchu, Vaade Venkatesudane, Ennadu vijnaanamika naaku, Avadharu Raghupai, Bhavamulona and Aunayya Janadavu etc.
