After Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan is taking the “Swayamvar” route to publicity. Called “Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega”, the second season will start in mid-December on NDTV Imagine. Any major girl from across the world can participate in the show through audition. 16 will be selected from the audition process. Like the last season they will perform various tasks in the show. Rahul promises to provide a good dose of entertainment and ratings for the channel. He holds the show won’t rely on drama. “There is nothing called drama in the show. My life is an open book. People know me very well. I never created any drama in my life. It is the media, which has been doing so.”

Excerpts from an interview:

Q Do you relate to the concept of swayamvar?

I believe in Hindu mythology. I connect with the sanskar, culture and value of our country. I see it as a very good way to find my bride. The concept of the swayamvar is ancient only the approach is new.

Q. What are your expectations?

She should be bold and beautiful. She should be a partner and not like some piece of furniture. I am not looking for perfection. Nobody is perfect in this world. I am also not perfect.

Q. The first season didn’t culminate in marriage?

As far as I know from mythology, swayamvar is about choosing a groom but I am here to choose my bride. I have good intentions and faith that this show is going to help me in finding my bride.

Q. Is your family with you…what will happen to your political future?

My family supports my decision. I am in this show because of the blessings of my mother. And I am going to help and support my sister who is contesting assembly election. How can I know my future? Right now I am only looking forward to establish my social and family life.

Q Are you comfortable marrying a divorcee?

I don’t mind marrying a divorcee.
