Turner, Film Kraft Productions, and Toonz Animation have partnered to create four animated movie sequels based on the Bollywood mega movie Krrish . The adventures of Kid Krrish will be aired on Cartoon Network as animated movies from July 14. The films will feature a 11-year-old superhero who is taken to the hills after his grandparents discover his special powers, and a host of other characters including the lovable outer space Jadoo.

Speaking on the association, director Rakesh Roshan said, “With Koi Mil Gaya (KMG) and Krrish , I was trying to understand the market. Merchandising with KMG began after the release. With Krrish, it was slightly ahead of the release. But with Krrish 3 , I wanted to be better prepared. I planned to bring out an animated movie two years ago when I started work on my film. I had spoken to Toonz’s Jayakumar (Toonz Animation’s CEO, P. Jayakumar) back then.”

Roshan’s third offering in the superhero franchise, Krrish 3, releases this Deepavali. Krrish 3 will add to the experience of the movies with digital animation, gaming and augmented Krrish -interactive platforms where people can experience what it feels to be Krrish .

Besides the one in July, there will be another in September and two movies post- Krrish 3 ’s release. “Ahead of Krrish 3’s release, I wanted to revive the memory of Krrish with children who may have not seen the earlier films. It’s a first-of-its-kind venture where a live action film has been adapted to the animation format and I thought Turner’s Cartoon Network would cater best to the segment since it is the oldest and most popular. We hope to lay the foundation for future films in this genre through our path-breaking strategies.”
