For the connoisseurs of classical music from Kakinada, All India Radio Visakhapatnam had organised noted Carnatic vocal artiste Pantula Rama's musical concert at Satkalavahini auditorium. The two-hour long concert has been recorded for the AIR and slated for broadcast at 10 p.m. on April 20 from Visakhapatnam station.

In the concert named ‘Eka Raga Sabha,' Rama has chosen raga Shankarabharanam and recited varna's and kritis of various composers.

The concert began with varnam ‘ Chalamela ' followed by Vinayaka sthuti ‘ Shakti Sahita Ganapatim .'

The rendition of Thyagaraja kritis Manasu Swadheenamai and Sara Sara Samarai by Pantula Rama was breathtaking.

After reciting a few Hindi bhajans , Rama concluded the concert with Tillana and Mangalam . M.S.N. Murthy on violin, K. Ramesh on mridangam and Vasundhara Devi on tambura have lent perfect support

Programme Head of the AIR, Visakhapatnam, V. Venkata Rani has said that after a long gap, the AIR has resumed Eka Raga Sabha programme, as the budget is available to conduct the event on a grand scale.

“This is under the software scheme of the AIR and we are keen on resuming the Eka Raga Sabha, besides recording some other musical programmes like the folk songs. Plans are afoot to broadcast this concert all over the State,” Rani said.
