T housands gathered to watch the consecration of Tiruttani Sri Subramanyaswamy temple that took place on February 7. The Moolavar vimanam has been constructed anew and laid with gold, using over 6o kg of the yellow metal, entirely from the hundi collection.

The work started on January 3 and was completed on February 3, a record. The golden vimanam has a base of 14 feet and a height of over 27 feet. Consecration last took place in 2003.

Among the dignitaries, who participated were the HR&CE Minister K.R. Periakaruppan, Union Minister for Broadcasting Jagathratchagan and HR&CE Commissioner P.R. Sampath. The temple Joint Commissioner M. Kavitha and Trust Board Chairman Eswarappan made elaborate arrangements for the event.
