Kinnera Art Theatres organised ‘Harikatha Mahotsavam’ with the support of department of Culture and South Zone Cultural centre timing it with the 61st birthday of advisor, Culture Government of Andhra Pradesh K.V. Ramanachari IAS (Retd.). Every Harikatha artiste featured in the fest opened their show paying tributes to Ramanachari. The festival was held in the Ghantasala Pranganam on the premises of Ravindra Bharati.

Kota Sachidananda Sastry sounds different among the Harikatha artistes was because that he possesses a subtle sense of humour that he can instantly weave in a verse or any other poetic form and spell out extempore. He’s a wonderful singer, well versed even in popular songs of Telugu cinema.

Even while narrating his theme for the evening ‘Sita Kalyanam’, Kota tickled the audience with his observations on mini episodes like ‘Ahalya Saapa Vimochanam’, how Ravana failed not just to lift the arrow (Siva Dhanassu) but fell under it till Rama went to his rescue and so on. Kota gave more time to reveal beauties of the literary element created by Adibhatla Narayana Dasu, his guru Suryanarayanadasu and many others.

It was indeed a great Harikatha evening with Kota Sachidananda Sastry.
