Brahma Gana Sabha will conduct its annual Nalli Aadi Natya Vizha from July 20 to 28, at Smt. Sivagami Pethachi Hall, Luz Church Road, Mylapore. Nalli Kuppusamy Chetty will preside and Prof C.V. Chandrashekar will inaugurate the dance festival. A. Natarajan, former director, DD Kendra, Chennai, will felicitate. Senior and upcoming dancers from all over India are participating in this festival, which is open for all. For more information, call 94444 44767.

Narayana Tirtha jayanthi

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, East Mada Street, Mylapore, (Ph: 2464 0811), in association with Thirupoonthuruthy Sri Narayana Tirtha Swamigal Trust is hosting the 338{+t}{+h}jayanthi of Narayana Tirtha on July 19. Veda Paaraayanam will take place at 5.15 p.m. L. Sabaretnam will be the chief guest. Dance guru Prof C.V. Chandrashekar will be the guest of honour. Leela Samson, chairperson, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, will be felicitated on the occasion. This will be followed by the vocal concert of Mambalam Sisters (6.30 p.m.) and Leela Samson’s Bharatanaytam (7.30 p.m.).

Special events

The DKJ Foundation and Naada Inbam (Ph: 2499 2672) have organised special programmes on the occasion of DKJ’s birth anniversary, on July 21 and 22, 6.15 p.m. at Ragasudha Hall, Luz, Mylapore. Disciples of D.K. Jayaraman with Poorna Vaidhyanathan and J. Vaidhyanathan will present ‘Kamalamba Navavaranam.’ T.G. Badrinarayanan will present a vocal concert the next day. Naada Inbam in association with Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer Golden Jubilee Foundation is organising a special concert series from July 25 to 27. To be inaugurated by Sruti V. Ramnarayan, the inaugural day’s programme will feature Kalyani Sharma’s vocal concert at 6 p.m. She will be felicitated on the occasion.

Paalam webcast

Paalam's free webcast features a Talent Promotion vocal concert by R.P. Shravan, on July 21, 8 a.m. He will be accompanied by Srividhya Iyer (violin) and N.C. Bharadwaj (mridangam). For Uttarakhand victims

On July 20, on the occasion of Sani Pradosham, Chennai Om Sri Skandasramam, East Tambaram, (Ph: 2229 0134/94446 29570, will conduct a special prayer, abishekam and lighting of Moksha deepam for the victims of the Uttarakhand tragedy.

Anniversary fest

Tambaram Music Club (Ph: 2239 2885/98413 85288) celebrates its 18{+t}{+h}anniversary on July 21, 6 p.m., at Sitadevi Garodia School, East Tambaram.N. Balasubramanian, secretary, Brahma Gana Sabha, will be the chief guest. The evening programme features the vocal concert of T.V. Sankaranarayanan.

Annual day

Nandhikeshwar Thala Vidyalaya is conducting its annual day this evening, 5 p.m., at Vasantha Mandapam, Radhanagar, Chromepet. The inaugural function will be followed by Paamalai programme. On July 20, 3 p.m., Thaalamaalai will be presented by disciples of Thillaisthanam R. Suriyanarayanan. At 7 p.m. namasankirthanam will be presented by Kadayanallur S. Rajagopal Das and party. On July 21, 9 a.m., guru puja for Pudukottai Dakshinamoorthy Pillai will be performed. At 9.45 a.m., Trichy R. Thayumanavan and mridangam artist Tanjore S.A. Johnson will be honoured. At 5.45 p.m., K. V. Ramanujam will present a flute recital.
