SUNO SUNO MERI AAWAAZ

Mystica Music, Rs.150

A nother album from the versatile Mystica Music under the guidance of Anandmurti Gurumaa, well known speaker and spiritual guide.

Largely Gurumaa's voice, the songs are a blend of folksy tunes and pop effects.

The title track starts melodiously enough, with a Rajasthani flavour provided by strings like the sarangi. With lyrics that do not verge into the poetic and a certain repetitiveness of pattern, it does not seem material that would catch the fancy of all and sundry in the manner of a hit song — which is what one would have liked from a song that attempts to raise awareness about the girl child and the importance of nurturing our girls.

Similar is the case with, “Naari”, sung by Palash Sen and the Euphoria band, with the background voices of Vaishali Barua and Krutika Muralidharan. The lyrics are by Deekshant Sehrawat and Sen.

A number with a haunting attraction is “Nikki Jai Kali” with its slow sombre rhythm and flute introduction.

In a similar vein is “Navi Milegi Rah”, with an air of mystery. The lyrics of this as also of “Chamkungi Sitara Banke”, which glimmers with disco beats and electric guitar, are by Kamal Wadhwa.
