Sri Krishna Gana Sabha is celebrating its 17th Chithirai Nataka Vizha from April 11-19, where 11 plays will be staged. On the inaugural day, playwright, actor and director Visu will be conferred the title ‘Nataka Choodamani’ by Mr. R.M. Veerappan. Also Poornam New Theatres Rolling Trophy for the Best Drama Troupe 2009 will be given to Goodwill Stage-Kovai Padmanabhan. Kuchipudi recital

Well-known dancer Manju Bhargavi and her troupe will present ‘Sri Lalitha Nrutyarchanam’ this evening at 6.30 p.m., at Narada Gana Sabha, TTK Road. To be presented in Kuchipudi style, the concept of the show is based on Ashtothra Satha Namam, the 108 Sanskrit verses composed by Sage Agastya. The choreography is by Manju Bhargavi while the Telugu translation is by Dr. Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad.

Tribute concerts

Naada Inbam is paying tribute to its founder S.V. Krishnan by organising the SVK Birthday Series concerts from April 11-19 at Raga Sudha Hall, Luz Avenue, Mylapore. The artists who will be performing are Trivandrum R. Venkatraman (April 11, 6.p.m.), S. R Maitreyi, Sangeetha Sivakumar (April 12, 4.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.), Bharat Sundar (April 13, 6 p.m.), R. Vedavalli (April 14, 6 p.m.), Amritha Murali (April 15, 6 p.m.) and T. N. Krishnan (April 16, 6 p.m.).
