In connection with Sri Annamacharya’s 600th Jayanti Mahotsavam held at Sri Vijaya Kothandaramar temple in Thanjavur, S. Mathangi presented a vocal concert on August 24. The festival was conducted by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam, Tirupati.

Beginning the recital with ‘Charanu Janakane’ (Purandaradasa, Nalinakanti), Mathangi went on to render in her rich voice ‘Vinoro Bhagyamu’ (Sudha Danyasi) and ‘Brahmam Okate.’

She was supported by Ganapati Iyer on the violin and T.K. Ramachandran on the mridangam.

Mathangi is a post-graduate in Sanskrit and a qualified music teacher too, working with the South Zone Cultural Centre at Thanjavur.
