B eginning today (October 28), Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram, which comes under the Art & Culture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu, will celebrate its festival till November 9, 6 p.m., at Tagore Kalai Arangam, in the premises of Government Music College, Adyar. The events today open with a welcome address by composer Deva, president of the Mandram, followed by the speeches of the special guest, M.S. Viswanathan, and member-secretary of the organisation, actor Sachu. S.P. Shanmuganathan, minister, HR &CE Board, the chief guest of the evening, will deliver a special address. ‘Marga' (‘The Right Path') a fusion music concert of Indian and Western, by T.V. Gopalakrishnan, will follow.

Two programmes of music dance and drama have been scheduled on all the days of the fest at 6 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Dr. V. Maithreyan M.P., is the chief guest on October 29, Bombay Sisters will address the gathering. Padma Shankar's violin concert at 6 p.m. and ‘Mahanadhi' Shobana's music (7.30 p.m.) are part of the day's programmes.

The special invitees on October 30 include V.P. Dhananjayan, Shantha Dhananjayan and Kutty Padmini. Gopika Verma's Mohiniyattom is at 7.30 p.m.

On November 6 (Sunday), besides the evening's events, music by Karur Sisters (9.30 a.m.) and patti mandram with Ku. Gnanasambandan as the moderator (10.30 a.m.) are on the cards.
