Renovation is on at Arulmigu Santhanayaki Samedha Arulmigu Adhipureeswarar temple, Pallikkaranai. Arulmigu Santhanayaki Trust has undertaken the temple work.
The temple has a sprawling space of 7,000 sq. ft. as prakara mandapam. With help from devotees and philanthropists, separate niches have been constructed for different deities. The construction of the three-tiered 39 ft rajagopuram is under way. Besides an annadana mandapam is coming up. Pending work includes the construction of temple tank, floor around the gopuram and painting. The Trust appeals to the devotees to help them expedite the process. Inscriptions say that the rulers of Vijayanagara dynasty carried out renovation work at this temple in the year 1725 A.D.
The sun’s rays will fall on the lingam between 6.40 and 6.50 a.m. every year between February 15 and 30 and this is hailed as ‘Surya puja.’
