It was a day dedicated entirely by the women and for the women.

Prerana, a forum for women, showcased the creative side and collective might of women last Sunday, ahead of the International Women’s Day observed on March 8.

The series of events conducted at Sri Venkateswara Oriental College, Tirupati, included music and dance concert, portrait exhibition, debate, elocution and fancy dress, all with women in the forefront.

The exhibition of portraits on ‘Famous women’ turned out to be a highlight, wherein the leading personalities drawn from various fields were highlighted.

Artist Kirankumari presented a collage based on Bob Marley’s lyrics No woman no cry . Panchajanya troupe members gave a scintillating Vadya Sammelan , wherein the artistes deftly handled instruments like violin, veena, rhythm pad and guitar in unison. Students of Amararaja Vidyalaya performed a short play Baava Raasina Uttharam , Prerana members conducted a play Peru Marichina Illalu and women employees of State Bank of India (SBI) performed a comedy skit. Kathak dancer D. Sridevi performed a ballet on ‘Mother’s love’. Prerana Secretary A. Bhavani coordinated the cultural sessions.
