Malone

Richard Malone (Burt Reynolds) is an ex-CIA agent who plans to start life anew. While travelling through the country, Malone stays back in a small town for a few days when his car breaks down. That’s where he meets Charles Delaney (Cliff Robertson). Delaney is a millionaire and quite eccentric at that. He has total control over all the inhabitants of the town and soon hopes to become the next president.

Malone decides to challenge Delaney and his assassins.

Snakes on a Plane

The young Sean (Phillips) witnesses a murder committed by a crime lord. To silence him forever, the villain hides a tonne of snakes on the flight that Sean is travelling on. Midway into the flight, the reptiles come out to play.

It Runs in the Family

(MGM Movies, Saturday, 4 p.m.)

Mitchell (Kirk Douglas) is trying to deal with health problems. His son, Alex (Michael Douglas), works as a lawyer in the firm that his father founded, but is questioning the usefulness of his work. Alex’s son, Asher (Cameron Douglas), does not take college seriously and seems lost.

The youngest son Eli (Rory Caulkin), while extremely intelligent, is entering a difficult pre-adolescent phase. When Alex indulges in a thoughtless and careless brief romantic fling and his psychologist wife (Bernadette Peters) discovers it, his marriage is threatened.

Stay Hungry

(MGM Movies, Monday, 9 p.m.)

Jeff Bridges and Sally Field star in this quirky, sensitive drama about a wealthy Southern bachelor who learns that money and charm have their limitations.

Arnold Schwarzenegger also makes an appearance.

Nutcracker: The Motion Picture

(MGM Movies, Tuesday, 7.30 p.m.)

The colourful classic is brought to the big screen, designed by famed children’s story author and artist Maurice Sendak, and written for the first time to be as close as possible to the original story.

A lavish, exciting and heart-warming celebration of dance, music and life, it is based on the Pacific Northwest Ballet’s original production.
