NID entrance test
The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, has invited applications for an entrance test to be held on January 8 - 9, 2011 for admission to its postgraduate diploma programme in design (PGDPD) and graduate diploma programme in design (GDPD) for the year 2011-12.
GDPD is a four-year professional full-time course offered at NID main campus, Ahmedabad. Total seats: 100. Specialisations available in GDPD course are:
Industrial design (35 seats): It consists of product design, furniture and interior design, ceramic and glass design.
Communication design (50 seats): It consists of graphic design, animation film design, film and video communication, exhibition (spatial) design.
Lifestyle design (15 seats)
Those who have passed the Plus Two examination in any subject combination and those who are planning to appear for the examination in March 2011 are eligible to appear for the GDPD national-level entrance test to be held on January 9, 2011 in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Delhi, Guwahati, Lucknow, Kolkata, Mumbai and Nagpur. The upper age limit is 20.
PGDPD is a two to two-and-a-half year-long full-time programme.
Total seats: 45 seats. This course is offered at the following NID campuses:
Main Campus, Ahmedabad
Specialisations: product design (15 seats); furniture and interior design (15); ceramic and glass design (10); graphic design (15); animation film design (15); film and video communication (15); textile design (15).
PG Campus, Gandhinagar
Transportation and automobile design (15); toy and game design (10); photography design (15); apparel design and merchandising (15); lifestyle accessory design (15); new media design (15); strategic design management (15).
R&D Campus, Bangalore
Information and interface design (15); design for digital experience (15); design for retail experience (15).
Entrance test for PGDPD will be held on January 8, 2011 at all the above centres.
Eligibility: candidates with a bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline or those appearing for final qualifying examination are eligible to appear for the PGDPD entrance test.

Duly filled-in application along with a demand draft for Rs.1,500 drawn on any nationalised bank in favour of National Institute of Design payable at Ahmedabad and true copies of relevant certificates should be sent to the National Institute of Design, Paldi, Ahmedabad - 380007, so as to reach the addressee on or before November 12.
Application forms and information brochure can also be obtained from select branches of Bank of India on payment of Rs.1,500 from October 14 onwards.

PG entrance test
Applications are invited for All India Postgraduate Medical/ Dental Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE 2011) to be conducted by AIIMS Delhi on January 8, 2011 for admission to MD/ MS / diploma and MDS courses under the 50 per cent seats quota in various medical and dental colleges in the country.
Indian nationals who possess MBBS / BDS degree from a recognised institute can apply. Last date: March 31, 2011. Candidates can apply online till November 16 through the website www.aiimsexams.org.
The cost of application-cum-examination fee is Rs.1,000. Last date: November 16.
