Applications are invited for the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) to be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 25 for admission to the five-year integrated M.Sc. programme in basic sciences — Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics — at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE-CBS), Mumbai.

The two residential institutes have state-of-the-art teaching and research laboratories, modern computational facilities and computer centres and excellent libraries. The students are eligible for the INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) fellowship instituted by the Union government for carrying out summer projects.

The Integrated Science Education and Research Centre, Visva-Bharati, will admit students for its integrated M.Sc. course from the merit list of NEST.


Those who have passed Plus Two in the science stream with Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics scoring at least 60 per cent marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade during 2011 or 2012 or are appearing for the qualifying examination in 2013 can apply for NEST. Applicants should have been born on or after July 22, 1993.
