Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, has invited applications for the combined biotechnology entrance examination to be held on May 25 for admission to M.Sc. biotechnology and agricultural biotechnology courses and the M.V.Sc. and M.Tech. biotechnology programmes in various participating universities in India.

M.Sc. biotechnology

Those with a degree in physical, biological, agricultural, veterinary, and fishery sciences, pharmacy, engineering and technology, or medicine with at least 55 per cent marks may apply.

Agriculture biotechnology, M.V.Sc.

The participating universities are: Kerala Agricultural University, Thrissur; Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Hisar; Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur; G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar; Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur; Madhya Pradesh Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidhayala, Jambalpur; Marathwada Krishividyapeeth, Latur (Maharshtra); Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar; Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore; University of Agricultural Science, GKVK, Bangalore; University of Agricultural Science, Dharwad; Rajendra Agricultural University, Bihar (Pusa-Samsthipur); Guru Nanak Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana; Nagpur Veterinary College, Nagpur; and Assam Agricultural University, Guwahati.

Those having a degree with at least 55 per cent marks in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, veterinary science and animal husbandry, biotechnology, biochemistry, microbiology, and molecular genetics are eligible to apply. Only those who have passed in 2010 or thereafter and those appearing for the qualifying examination in 2012 are eligible to apply.


The participating universities are the Cochin University of Science and Technology; Anna University, Chennai; and the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata.

Those with a first-class BE or B.Tech. degree with minimum 60 per cent marks in chemical engineering, biochemical engineering, industrial biotechnology, leather technology, chemistry, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, or chemical technology; a first-class B.Pharm. or M.Sc. biotechnology degree in life sciences, botany, zoology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics, biophysics, microbial genetics and bioinformatics; or a first-class BE or B.Tech. degree in electrochemistry, bioengineering, pharmaceutics technology, or food technology; or a first-class M.Sc. degree in chemistry or physics; or an M.Sc. degree in marine biotechnology, marine biology, aquatic biology and fisheries, and environmental biotechnology are eligible to apply. Those who qualified in 2010 or thereafter and those appearing for the qualifying examination in 2012 are eligible to apply.

Application forms and prospectus can be obtained by post by sending a crossed bank draft for Rs.260 drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University, payable at New Delhi, along with a self-addressed unstamped envelope of the minimum size of 30x25 cm, indicating in the requisition letter and on the self-addressed envelope the name of the programme of study for which the form is required, to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room no. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi – 110 067 so as to reach there on or before March 5.
