Agriculture entrance test

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has invited applications for an all-India agriculture entrance test for admission to undergraduate programmes to be held on April 16. The test will be conducted for admission to 15 per cent of the seats in bachelor's degree programmes of four-year duration in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, agricultural engineering, dairy, and technology offered at various State-level agricultural universities.

The National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana, will take in students to its B.Tech. dairy technology course based on this test.

National Talent Scholarships will also be awarded based on the test for those who take admission outside the State of domicile.

Eligibility: Applicants should have passed Plus Two examination with physics, chemistry and any one of the subjects among biology/ mathematics/ agriculture/ home science. They should have secured at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. Those appearing for the Plus Two examination in 2011 can also apply.

Applicants should be in the age group of 17-23 years as on August 31, 2011.

The duly filled-in application form along with a demand draft for Rs.400 drawn in favour of ICAR unit education division payable at New Delhi and an unstamped self-addressed envelope (30 X 25 cm) should be sent to the Controller of Examination (education), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Room no.216, Krishi Anusandhan Bhavan-II, Pusa, New Delhi, so as to reach the addressee on or before February 10. The entrance test will be conducted in two subject streams. Stream A comprises physics, chemistry and agricultural biology. Stream B comprises physics, chemistry and mathematics. Questions for physics and chemistry will be common for both streams. There will be 180 multiple choice objective type questions. Each correct answer will be rewarded four marks and for each wrong answer, one mark will be deducted from the total score.

B.Pharm. lateral entry test

The Commissioner for entrance examinations has invited applications for B.Pharm. lateral entry test to be held on January 23 at Thiruvananthapuram. As per the scheme, the diploma holders in pharmacy will be admitted to the second year of the B.Pharm. course. Applicants will have to pass those subjects of B.Pharm. first year which are not covered under the D.Pharm. curriculum.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala origin, and should hold a recognised diploma in pharmacy with at least 50 per cent marks.

Duly filled-in application along with a demand draft for Rs.300 drawn in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable at Thiruvananthapuram along with attested copies of all relevant certificates should be sent by registered post to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Building, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram so as to reach the addressee on or before January 12. The test will consist of one paper of two-hour duration and will have 100 objective-type multiple choice questions from pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology and pharamacognosy.
