LL.B. entrance examination

The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations has invited applications for the three-year LL.B. entrance examination to be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 25 for admission to government and private self-financing law colleges in the State.

Apply online on till 5 p.m. on August 5.

Applicants should be graduates in any discipline with at least 45 per cent marks in aggregate (40 per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes). Those appearing for the final-year degree examinations are eligible to apply. There is no upper age limit.

The government law colleges function in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. Each college has 100 seats. The number of government merit seats in the private self-financing Sree Narayana Law College, Poothotta, Ernakulam, is 30.

While applying online, the candidate has to upload a recent passport-size colour photograph as specified in the prospectus. The application fee of Rs. 600 (Rs. 300 for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) can be paid at any branch of the State Bank of Travancore by using the bank challan generated along with the printout of the online application. Those from outside Kerala can pay using a demand draft drawn on a nationalised bank in favour of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations payable in Thiruvananthapuram.

Take a printout of the online application, affix a recent passport-size photograph and get it attested by a gazetted officer. Send the application, along with documents, by registered post to the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, 5th Floor, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvananthapuram – 695 001 so as to reach there on or before August 7. Admit cards can be downloaded from from August 16.

The three-hour entrance examination will have 200 multiple-choice questions from General English, General Knowledge and Aptitude for Legal Studies. Those who secure minimum 10 per cent marks (five per cent for those belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes) shall be included on the rank list. Seats will be allotted through an online centralised allotment process in accordance with the rank and the order of preference of the applicants.

Admission test for Ph.D.

The Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) has invited applications for research leading to a Ph.D. in the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) or the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), both in Pune. Those who expect to complete M.Sc., BE, B.Tech., ME or M.Tech. courses by August with more than 55 per cent marks and talented final-year B.Sc., first year M.Sc. and second and third year BE or B.Tech. students are eligible to apply. Students of any branch of Engineering, Physics, Electronics, Astronomy or Applied Mathematics will be considered. Those who have secured the above degrees are also eligible to apply.
