Less than a decade after it was set up, the TERI School of Advance Studies has been recognised as a university by the University Grants Commission. The Board of Management of the School has opted to change the name to TERI University, school officials said. The first convocation of the TERI University will be held on October 16 when seven students will receive their doctoral degrees and 36 others their master's degrees. Infosys Technologies CEO and Managing Director Nandan Nilekani will deliver the convocation address. Founded in 1998, the TERI School was recognised as a deemed-to-be-university a year later. It runs Ph.D. programmes, M.Sc. (Environmental Studies), M.Sc. (Natural Resources Management), MA (Public Policy and Sustainable Development) and MBA (Infrastructure) courses. - UNI
