Fabuloush'12, a three-day national-level technical festival at the SRM university drew improved participation from the previous years with new topics such as mobile communications, cloud computing, network security, technology and its applications, human resource and latest innovations in web designing. The fest was inaugurated by ethical hacker Ankit Fadia.

In his keynote address, he advocated that one should not use email accounts of larger players and Microsoft operating systems as these are watched. “One should be careful while using the Internet as it is likely to be hacked even while chatting,” he said asking students to take up cyber security lessons as a lot of organisations are entering this domain globally.

Chairperson of SRM University, P. Ravi, said a new department is being created as Networking Sciences Department and two UG courses — B.Sc Ethical Hacking and B.Sc Networking Security — will be launched from the academic year 2013-14.

More than 1,500 students from about 100 educational institutions participated.

N. Sethuraman, registrar of the university, welcomed the gathering and R. Balasubramanian, director of faculty of science and humanities, proposed a vote of thanks.
