Swedish honour for Indian academic

Former Chairman of A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE), K.C. Reddy has been honoured with a doctorate by the Blekinge Institute of Technology, an exclusive Technical University established by Government of Sweden. Sara Eriksson, representative of Faculty Board presented the honorary doctorate to Prof. Reddy.


He was conferred with the honorary doctorate at a special ceremony held at the institute recently for his higher education reforms which initiated during his tenure as chairman, APSCHE especially, his efforts in establishing several universities in Andhra Pradesh in-order to enhance Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER), as the same strategy was reflected in National Knowledge Commission report. His role in developing the concept of AP IIITs for empowering rural students with world-class IT education was also appreciated.

Prof. Ursula Hass, Vice-Chancellor, BTH presided the academic ceremony, hosted and congratulated Prof. Reddy, who is the first Indian academic to have received the honour.

Vote of thanks

She thanked all the staff, for enabling BTH to be one of the world's top five universities in Area of Software and Systems Engineering, further second position in Europe and first position in Sweden in research as per Journal for Systems and Software Engineering, Elsevier.
