The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has accorded permission to the Centre for Distance Education in Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU), Anantapur, to commence B.Ed course in distance education mode from the 2009-10 academic year. According to the university officials, the intake would be 500 every year and the number was likely to be increased in the coming years.
A team of the NCTE visited the university campus earlier this month to examine the infrastructure available to offer the B.Ed course in distance education mode. Accordingly, the NCTE has given conditional permission to SKU to commence B.Ed distance mode.
The university has taken the NCTE permission as the B.Ed offered by a few universities in the distance mode was not recognised by the apex body of teacher education in the country and the certificates of such courses were made ineligible for teachers’ recruitment tests in different States. The university is likely to issue admission notification soon.
