I have completed my final-year in B.Sc Home Science with specialisation in resource management. I took subjects dealing with home management and interior designing. Are there institutes offering a PG diploma in interior designing, especially in Mumbai, Chennai or Bangalore.NID Ahmedabad offers a PG diploma in furniture designing but it requires a qualification of a degree in architecture or interior designing.Except for a few architecture schools that offer a specialisation in interior design at B. Arch, most of the courses in this field are diplomas offered at polytechnics and other design schools. The institutes that offer courses in interior design are: Apeejay Institute of Design, Delhi; Exterior-Interior Pvt. Ltd. (Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, & Kochi centres); J.J school of Arts, Mumbai; School of interior Design (CEPT), Ahmedabad; Srisiti school of Arts and Design. Bangalore, and Maheer Institute of Design, Pune.I have completed my III year B.Tech Biomedical course. I would like to do a course in biomedical software. Will this help my career? If so where can I do a course and which are the best software programmes that I can learn? There are no specific courses in biomedical software, but there is a postgraduate programme - M.Sc. in medical software. It is a two-year professional programme offered by Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal.I did diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 2004 and am working in an MNC. I want to do an MBA in IIT or NIT. Before that can I do AMIE or any other graduation? How do I prepare for MBA?The minimum for doing an MBA is graduation. A diploma is not enough. To do your MBA in IIT, you should have an engineering degree or its equivalent (AMIE) or postgraduation in sciences. The selection process depends on your JMET ( joint management entrance test conducted by IIT) score followed by a group discussion and interview. You need to prepare for all these. Please throw some light on career opportunities for development studies? What is the difference between development studies and social work? Which universities offer development studies as a PG level course in India? Development studies is a multi-disciplinary programme with a broad spectrum of subjects - economics, sociology, political science and media studies. You will be introduced to models of development, create an understanding of participatory, self-sustaining and people - centered public policies and develop their expertise in methodologies and skills for development research. After completing this, one can opt for a teaching or research career or opt for one of the civil services. These graduates are also in demand in the corporate sector as well as international development agencies.Social work is more of study of human resource with development aspects. Some of the leading institutes that offer development studies are: Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai; Mysore University, and Tata-DHAN Academy, Madurai.JAYAPRAKASH GANDHI
