The campus placement drive conducted by the Indian Army's 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad, under the University Entry Scheme (22 UES), at Khammam Institute of Technology & Sciences (KITS) at Ponnekal in Khammam rural mandal last week drew good response from engineering students of various districts.
Several enthusiastic engineering students desirous of joining the technical wings of the Indian Army turned up from far and near for the campus placement drive.
Around 450 engineering third and final year students from Hyderabad, Nalgonda, Guntur and Khammam districts appeared for preliminary interviews conducted by the officials of the Indian Army's 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad.
The interviews were held under the direct supervision of Colonel S K Gupta as part of the preliminary screening process. Major Avinash Malik and Major Manoj Kumar of 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad, were also present. Of this, as many as 30 students have reportedly cleared the preliminary interviews. The short-listed candidates will attend a five-day Service Selection Board test to be held in Bangalore soon.
According to sources, the candidates who emerge triumphant in the final selection process, will join the Indian Army as permanent service commissioned officers in technical wings under the UES.
