Seminar on Consumerism
A two-day National Seminar on “Consumerism in the Global Economy” was held recently by the Department of Corporate Secretaryship, Ethiraj College for Women, in collaboration with Centre of Consumer Studies, Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi, sponsored by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
Dr V. Shanthi, Convener of the seminar, Associate Professor and Head, department of corporate secretaryship emphasised the need for the seminar in this current dynamic environment.
V M Muralidharan, Chairman, Ethiraj College for Women presided over the Seminar and Prof. Dr. Suresh Misra, Chair Prof. & Co ordinator, Centre for Consumer Studies, IIPA, New Delhi delivered the key note address.
In this connection, an edited volume with selected papers entitled “Consumerism in the Global Economy” with ISBN was released by retired IAS Dr K Malaisamy. The seminar revolved around the various topics on consumerism such as smart consumerism in cyber space, consumer education and role of media, consumer protection laws and policies.
The technical sessions were chaired by eminent resource persons from various parts of the country.
Tie-up with IBM

The college has signed an MoU with IBM to train the students and certify them in Programming fundamentals, Relational Database using IBM DB2, Design & Development of Mobile Applications using IBM Worklight, and Embedded Systems Design with IBM Rational. The IBM Career Education program equips students with practical inputs, hands-on training and experimental learning through live projects.

Karpaga Vinayaga College of Engineering and Technology has signed an MoU with PSB Academy, Singapore. Objectives of the MoU are: to promote and enhance academic interest between institution, to promote advice for implementation of quality education and to encourage bright students of both institutions to come up for higher studies and to promote research and continuing education between institutions.
International conference held
Sri Sairam Institute of Management Studies organised a two-day international conference on economics, business, finance, human resource and technology for sustainable development recently in their college premises. E.M. Sudarsana Natchiappan , Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, delivered the valedictory address. In his speech he emphasised the enormous potential which Indians possessed which is not being recognised by many nations.
