Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd Director G. Nageswara Rao has emphasised on need for nuclear power generation to meet the growing demands of the nation.

Delivering a guest lecture on ‘Operation, Maintenance and various aspects of Nuclear Power Plants' here at VR Siddhatha Engineering College on Wednesday, he said that the nuclear power was safe and cheapest.

The nuclear plants would not pose any health problems to people working there, he said.

Explained about principle of nuclear fission, function of uranium, types of nuclear reactors, working safety measures in detail, he said that there 406 nuclear power plants across the globe. Of this, 200 were there in US, and 60 in Japan. France has 40 plants, he said, adding, the country would save lot of resources if it shifted to nuclear power, he added.
