The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH) will get a new campus at Kandi village in Medak district, adjoining the National Highway 9. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and Union Minister of State for Human Resources D. Purandeswari participated in the ground-breaking ceremony of the campus on the day of Dasara. The campus will come up at an estimated cost of Rs.800 crore.  Phase 1(a) of the main campus will be ready by July 2013. From then, all academic activities will be conducted there. The first M.Tech. batch will graduate in 2011 and the first B.Tech batch in July 2012. The insitute has 767 students. By 2017, the number will grow to 6,000.
