A two-day UGC national-level seminar on “Effective Facilitation Skills for Teachers in Higher Education” was held at St. Joseph's College for Women from Friday. The seminar was held in collaboration with Andhra Pradesh Productivity Council.

Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Xavier Alphonse said that effective facilitation for teaching in colleges hinges on three things: Context, consciousness and commitment.

He stressed upon the need to be empathetic and inspire the learners with love and dedication and not condition them with prejudices and negative attitudes.

Senior Deputy Director of APPC, Visakhapatnam, G. Ramabhadra focused on productivity and innovation as important energisers of the economy and said there was a need to establish productivity teams even in educational institutions.

The seminar was addressed by a number of resources persons such as Dr. Ozzie Mascarenhas from AIMIT, Mangalore, and Dr. M. Subhashini from St. Joseph's College, Bangalore.

Principal of the college Dr. Veronica, HoD of Home Science Dr. P. S. Annapurna and HoD of Office Management D. A. Ramani addressed the participants.

Various topics such as empowering collaborating and learning, participant learning through fun and freedom, communication styles and emerging vision for teacher facilitators in the 12th Plan of UGC where discussed during the two-day meet.
