The MBA in Oil and Gas Management has been planned with industry requirements in mind
The energy market in India is growing by the day with international energy giants making a foray into the country and creating a lot of opportunities in this sector. ISABEL GRANT , senior lecturer in Marketing at Aberdeen Business School, Robert Gordon University, speaks on the specialised MBA programme in Oil and Gas Management.
Can you give details about the course?
The MBA Oil and Gas Management (full-time) is AMBA (Association of MBA schools) accredited which offers a strategic management qualification with a specialist emphasis on oil and gas. The energy sector is facing profound changes due to climate change and environmental issues, changing patterns of viability in exploration and development, fragmentation of the value chain and the diversification of activities within organisations. Competition is forcing all organisations to concentrate on developing strong management competencies and this qualification will ensure you are ready to meet these challenges.
What is the duration of the course and the eligibility criteria?
The duration of the course is three semesters/15 months. Applicants should normally hold a first degree, at honours level at a top class banding (either a first class or second class upper or equivalent). They should have at least three years of professional experience in the energy industry or a related sector. This should include some management responsibility of people, resources, projects or finance. All international students, for whom English is not their first language, must provide evidence of linguistic ability, by gaining either IELTS 6.5 or its equivalent in TOEFL prior to receiving an unconditional offer of a place on the course. If you do not have a first degree but have five years or more senior management experience you may be considered.
How will this course make a difference as compared to a normal MBA?
The course is very successful because it has been developed with oil and gas industry requirements in mind and in full consultation with very senior figures in the oil and gas sector in the U.K. and Europe.
What is the course fee?
For the academic year 2013/2014 it is 18,850 pounds. All course fees are reviewed annually.
