The re-launch of 13 Education Plus clubs at Lendi Institute of Engineering and Technology began with the words of Tagore- “Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection.” It was an apt beginning as the III year students divided themselves to form clubs to improve their communication skills. The Hindu Education Plus clubs have been running successfully at the college and last year students of the college were among the three teams that qualified in the regional event and participated in the State final where they put up an impressive show.
Students from the winning team spoke to their juniors about how they benefited by participating in club activities and by following the schedule published in the pages of Education Plus every week. The students spoke about the doors that the annual Education Plus Club Challenge opened and how it introduced them to new challenges everyday.
The juniors were eager to start activities and even scripted 13 short plays in which they demonstrated why they would like to be a part of The Hindu’s initiative.
Mentors and students took a vow to participate in activities to the best of their ability and improve their communication skills.
Most of the students were from a rural background and were eager to join the programme and develop their spoken English skills as they realised its importance.
Chief mentor Haribabu Thammineni and principal of the college V.V. Rama Reddy, Principal motivated the students to make best use of the opportunity and overcome all fear so that they can participate in group discussions and ace their job interviews.
Colleges wishing to start Education Plus Clubs and be a part of the change may contact The Hindu, Visakhapatnam.
