Enthused by software companies absorbing its students during campus interview year after year, the Harshini Degree College is working out ties with more software companies this year, its Correspondent Ravikumar said on Saturday.

As many as 14 final year students from the college were selected for jobs in Mahindra Satyam.

“For the third year in succession our students with communication skills and good in programming are being observed by the software major,” he said.

Each of the students would get Rs. 2 lakh per year during the training period and Rs. 3 lakh thereafter.

Even while earning, the students could pursue M.S. from BITS, Pilani through correspondence, he explained.

“We are in talking with Infosys for conducting campus interview. As and when the IT major goes for on campus placements, it has promised to come to our college too,” he added.

College Principal V.Venkat Rao said the present trend was that the software companies preferred degree students as there was a high level of attrition among engineering students. In all, 450 students appeared for online examination conducted by the Mahindra Satyam, he added.

The selected students belonged to B.Sc Maths/Stastics/Electronics or Maths/Statistics/ Computer Science, Maths/Physics/Computer Science and Maths/Electronics/Computers, he added.

Right from the first year, the college provided training to students in communication skills. The students were fully equipped to appear for competitive exams conducted by banks, railways and other firms, they added.
