Any student under the Open Competition/backward classes category with a score of 255 or more out of the maximum 300 can relax because he or she is bound to get a seat in the ECE/CSE or IT branches in the top 20 private colleges, says career analyst Jayaprakash Gandhi.Even those with a mark of 249 or 250 in the OC/BC category can hope to get into Mechanical or Civil branches of top rated colleges. If a student comes under MBC category, even 235 is a safe bet for joining the top colleges in the circuit branches and 225 in the core engineering branches."An SC student with 215 or 220 marks is sure to get into top colleges, that too in ECE, considering the fact that more seats may be available this time, if one goes by the Government's stand that 60 per cent of the seats should be surrendered for the single window pool," notes Mr. Gandhi.
