Department of Physics of Andhra University paid rich tributes to one of its former Heads of Department M. Srirama Rao, who passed away recently.

Work on visual and radio meteor done by the late Prof. Srirama Rao received world-wide acclaim and led to the establishment of HF communication link for Defence purposes. He had also made a lot of contribution towards growth of space research in the university, HoD K. Niranjan said.

Prof. Srirama Rao received the prestigious Sir J.C. Bose award twice from the IEEE and the Best Teacher award from the State Government in 1987. The Gandhi Bhavan on AU South Campus came up due to his efforts.

The condolence meeting was attended by Principal of AU College of Science and Technology V. Veeraiah, former Principal R.D. Ratna Raju, former Registrar P.V.S. Rama Rao, former Registrar of Adikavi Nannaya University D.S.V.V.D. Prasad, faculty members, students, research scholars and staff of the department and scientists from the NSTL.
