ISB&M courses seek to develop leadership skills
The International School of Business and Media (ISB&M) was established in 2000 with the vision to provide world-class education to young minds and to prepare them for great careers.
The institution has presence in Pune, Kolkata, Noida and Bangalore, with 1,500 alumni and over 2,500 students pursuing different programmes.
The programme structure balances conceptual and leadership skill development. The focus is on the development of business analysis, problem-solving and decision-making skills, positive attitude and leadership ability.
Among the courses on offer is a two-year full-time Post-Graduate Programme in Business Management, with specialisations in Marketing, Insurance and Banking, Finance, Retail Marketing, Human Resources, Information System, and Supply Chain and Operations Management. The institute offers dual specialisation for all courses.
The ISB&M undergraduate offer is a three-year Dual Certification Programme. Punjab Technical University (PTU) awards the Bachelor’s degree. ISB&M is an authorised study centre of PTU under the Directorate of Distance Education. The Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills is awarded by ISB&M. Some of the programmes offered are the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and B.Sc. in Mass Communication, Advertisement and Journalism, with Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills.
On completion of the degree course, a student can opt for a job or may seek admission to the two-year PG programmes (subject to ISB&M admission procedure).
Every year, the PTU-prescribed courses and credits are supplemented by a number of courses (or workshops) designed and executed by ISB&M.
A highlight of the teaching at ISB&M is the emphasis on the development of workmanship for achieving excellence. Case analysis, role-play, business simulations and games, home assignments, quizzes, lectures and syndicates form the core of the learning programme.
The courseware consists of study material prescribed by the University and supplemented by in-house literature. Guest lectures by eminent corporate managers, consultants and academicians are conducted every month. At least one workshop every month on personality development, soft-skills etc. is planned.
Each student will be assigned to a faculty who will be his/her mentor and counsellor. Mentors will have continuous interaction with students. ISB&M has maintained a record of 100 per cent placement.
ISB&M’s training programmes are autonomous in nature and directed towards employability training and are not an educational degree. Therefore, they cannot be used for higher education in India.
All the placement activities of the students are done through ISB&M’S Placement Cell.
ISB&M recently hosted the 4th EuroAsian Conference in Bangalore in which many corporates participated.
According to Pramod Kumar, President, ISB&M, “the aim is to bring academics and teaching closer to the industry and moulding our students to be suitable to the national and international corporate circle.”
