Avinashilingam School of Management Technology of Avinashilingam University for Women organised a campus entrepreneurship programme in the premises. Jayakumar Ramdass, Managing Director, Mahendra Pumps, inaugurated the programme and spoke on the traits of an entrepreneur.

Capital, self-motivation, family support, ethics and value of time were the five most important things that one should value to become an entrepreneur.

The NSS Units of Dr. G.R. Damodaran College of Science and Vasavi Club Vanitha Coimbatore jointly organised a blood donation camp at the college premises.

More than 100 students from the college donated blood. There was also a blood identification camp for the donors and other students.

Ranganathan Engineering College organised a lecture on “Communicating Engineering Concepts” recently. E.B. Perumal Pillai, Deputy Controller of Examinations, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, spoke on the subject.

The Department of Management Studies of Hindusthan College of Arts and Science organised a cultural programme “Exemplar ‘09”. U.K. Ananthapadmanabhan, President, Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, inaugurated the programme and spoke on the ancient civilisations and the dramatic changes that have taken place.

The college day of AJK College of Arts and Science was celebrated recently.

Pramod Kumar, Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Coimbatore, was the chief guest. He told students to be clear in mind about courses and the career they chose. He motivated them to go for the Civil Services. He also spoke to the students on the responsibility of voting.

The School of Social Work of Karpagam University organised a seminar on “Women Empowerment and Societal Development”. S.S. Jawahar, Managing Director, TASMAC Limited, Chennai, inaugurated the seminar. He pointed out the importance of converging efforts made by the Government, district administration, voluntary organisations and society for effective planning and implementation of welfare programme for women and girls.

The Department of Mathematics of Bharathiar University organised a seminar on “Partial Differential Equations”. G. Alagar Ramanujam, former Principal, NGM College, Pollachi, inaugurated the seminar. B.R. Nagaraj, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Bangalore, delivered a keynote address.
