For those of you in the hunt for the ‘right course’ that could take you up the corporate ladder, a B.Com (Hons) degree is an option worth considering. One of the most sought after courses, it seeks to occupy a distinct image in the industry by providing strong content in quantitative techniques, accountancy, corporate laws, managerial economics, banking and financial institutions, cost and management accountancy, taxation and information technology.
Apart from the general subjects offered as part of regular B.Com course, diverse functional areas like marketing management, financial management, and human resources management are also included in this course, which adds to its appeal, says Head of Department (HoD) of Commerce, Osmania University, M. Sulochana. “The students of this course will have an edge over other students who are pursing other streams,” she avers.
As such, students of B.Com (Hons) are in demand and most of them get placed while they are in the final year itself. Apart from bagging good job offers, a B.Com (Hons) also equips its students for higher studies,” says H. Venkatshwarlu, principal, University College of Commerce and Business Management, OU.
