Amrita School of Communication (ASCOM), Ettimadai, has bagged Indy’s Award for Best B-School Academic Input Syllabus in Mass Communication.

The award recognised excellence in mass communication, marketing communication, advertising, branding and public relations.

According to Jonathan Peters, founder, Stars of the Industry Group, which instituted the award, the winners were chosen based on the following criteria — primary data, student and alumni perception.

The syllabi of the courses are mapped to the UNESCO Model Curricula for Journalism Education. At the MA level, specialisations are offered in print journalism, television production, new media and advertising.

The revamped curricula include new trends in communication, such as narrative journalism, multimedia storytelling, computer-assisted reporting, while new theoretical courses offer contemporary communication and film studies.

“I believe that the award is a recognition of the excellent syllabus that ASCOM offers and the experienced faculty.

What was most satisfying was the knowledge that the feedback from our former students had also contributed to determining the award,” says Professor Jayaram.
