The University Grants Commission (UGC) will hold the National Eligibility Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship and lectureship in 77 arts and humanities subjects, including languages, on December 27. Those who have secured at least 55 per cent marks in the master’s degree examination (50 per cent for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the visually challenged) are eligible to apply.

Those who are appearing for the qualifying examination, or have appeared and awaiting results, may also apply. The upper age limit is 28, relaxed by five years for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, the physically challenged and women.

The application format, attendance slip, admission card and details can be had from the latest Employment News or downloaded from www.ugc.ac.in. The last date for receipt of the applications at the test centre or university is November 6. Application fee for the general category is Rs.450, Other Backward Classes category, Rs.225 and those from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and the physically challenged, Rs. 110.
