The Faculty of Medicine of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University has invited applications for the entrance examination for admission to its MBBS, BDS, BAMS, B.Sc. nursing and B.Pharm. courses. The test will be held on May 24 at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Kochi, Kozhikode, Coimbatore , Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata.

Those who have passed Plus Two or an equivalent examination with minimum 50 per cent marks in aggregate in physics, chemistry and biology and 50 per cent in English are eligible to apply. For B.Pharm., besides biology, maths, biotechnology or computer science is acceptable. The candidates should be aged 17 to 25 as on December 31, 2008 (except for BAMS for which there is no upper age limit).

Scholarships announced

The Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy from the National University of Singapore is giving away scholarships to outstanding students from the Indian Civil Services.

“The student will not only receive education in one of the best public policy schools and also get a chance to study in some of the universities such as Columbia University, London School of economics to name a few”, informs Kishore Mahbubani, Dean, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

The scholarships amount to 80,000 U.S. dollars each for a two-year Masters in Public Policy.

Moreover, two scholarships worth 50,000 U.S. dollars will be given to those pursuing one-year masters in Public Administration. Each scholarship will cover expenses such as tuition, boarding, lodging, stipend and airfare.
