A team from Bhaskar Engineering College, which participated in National Go-Kart Championship (NGC) got 15th position all over India.
The competition was organised by Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. The go-kart championship presented the undergraduate engineering students with a simulating task of designing, fabricating, and validating a go-kart.
The competition was affiliated to the Society of Automotive Engineers, an international organisation, which gives national and international exposure to engineering students.
In all, 65 teams from various parts of the country participated in the first round of the competition.
For students it took almost a month to design the vehicle.
“The go-kart is made with mostly recycled parts excluding safety parts and tyres with a budget of just around Rs.30,000. This go-kart gives a top speed of 85 kmph and fuel economy of 40-45 kmpl with petrol,” said M.A. Qadeer Siddiqui, a team member. Students went through tough rounds in the final contest.
Technical inspection, ground clearance, marketing presentation, brake test, auto-cross, technical viva, endurance and fuel economy were the round where the team was tested.
“After clearing the first stage, selected teams had to fabricate the go-kart for the final round. Total 26 teams were selected for final round and ours was the only team from A.P to get selected,” said Qadeer Siddiqui.
The team consisted of 15 members from Automobile and Mechanical department and they include M.A. Azeem, Md. Imran Nawaz, Md. Akram, M.A. Qadeer, Md.Sibgathulla, Shakir Ali, Vinod Kumar, K.N.S. Teja, Pranith Goud, N. Shashank, S.Karthik, Vinay Kumar, Goutham Pokar and Siddeshwar R.
The team was guided by the HoD of Automobile Department, P.H.V. Shesha Talpa Sai.
