In 2004, The Hindu EducationPlus began the journey of reaching out to the student community by organising a pre-counselling guidance session for students who had appeared for the Common Entrance Test. Enthused by the response, we extended it to the districts. This event has since been on our calendar, and is being conducted in five district centres this year.
The event titled “Looking Ahead: A career counselling session” will be held in Bangalore (May 23), Mysore (May 24), Udupi (May 26), Hubli (May 28) and Gulbarga (May 29). The three-hour programme — comprising expert lectures and a question-answer session — will take students through the many career options ahead of them. In addition, students will take home a free copy of our detailed career guide titled “Looking Ahead.”
Many experts will address students and take questions. The keynote address will be delivered by scientist and Linus Pauling Research Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research C.N.R. Rao on the excitement of science as a profession.
Harish Bijoor, brand expert and CEO of Harish Bijoor Consults Inc., will give an overview of the job market for the next few years. Madan Padaki, CEO and co-founder of MeriTTrac, will speak about the relevance of soft skills from the industry perspective. Senior executives of the Karnataka Examinations Authority and Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka will clear doubts about the admission process.
The Hindu EducationPlus cordially invites its young readers, not to mention their parents, to this event.
