Wipro wins women's throwball championship

Wipro overcame Cognizant 15-9, 9-15, 15-8 in the final of the first invitation women's throwball championship held in Chennai recently.

Teams from ten corporate companies and institutions participated in the tournament.

The teams were equally divided in to two pools and the preliminary rounds were conducted in league and Wipro, Airport Authority of India-Chennai, Cognizant and Universal Sports Foundation were the teams qualified for the semifinals.

Amrithavalli of Wipro Technology Ltd, Magizhlvi Manjari of Cognizant and Vanaja of Airport Authority of India-Chennai received the best players of the tournament awards.

V.H. Md. Haneefa, Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Group, Tamil Nadu, gave away the prizes.

Cognizant beat Universal Sports Foundation by the score 15-02, 15-10. Wipro bt Airport Authority of India (Chen) 15-11, 15-10.

Third place play-off: Airport Authority of India bt Universal Sports Foundation 15-5, 15-12.
