Friendship's day, just like all the other designated ‘days' is a rage among the youth. While some go out of their way to save up money and buy the best possible gifts and cards, there is the contrasting practical lot that sits home and quickly comes up with a bunch of friendship bands made out of things found lying at home! Be it bought or handmade, it is laudable that people take the time off to recognize those that matter.
Friends may exchange gifts. Hugs or may be just a smiling nod, but it is the order of the day that commercial establishments cater to the needs of friends on this special day!
This is precisely why several gift stores and malls get creative and house several innovative items each year to grab the attention of the ‘friendly' customer! Be it the bands that symbolically represent this day, the very many improvisations made on the basic thread-based friendship band, the myriad soft toy models available, toffees and candies coming in shapes and sizes you can only imagine, or the cute cards that invariably target the soft hearted buyer- stores surely offer something for everything!
One stop shop for your friendship day needs would be Waldens. Hyderabad's favourite store when it comes to gifting, plus it is also every stationery-enthusiasts paradise!
Well gifts and all that jazz is for each one to decide on, but what is it that one can do with friends on this day? Where can a Hyderabadi go to hang out and do something memorable… Well… Hyderabad is no longer the dull, dry place it was a few years ago when it was almost customary for people to rush to the isolated theme park in the outskirts of the city. There is one mall in every neighbourhood (almost), or one mall to appease every demand of the Hyderabadi.
Be it friendship day or not, several youngsters are found hanging out in any of these up market shopping centres just as they can be found on the deserted streets of jubilee hills, etc.
Bottom line being that it really is nobody's job to decide where friends go or what they do, for what matters at the end of the day is that they all be together as a ‘gang' and revel in the spirit of youthful amity- for, years later when they sit to reminisce, these are the moments that shall flash before their eyes.
