Inadequate rainfall has brought in its train water shortage in some areas. Water lorries are seen racing down the roads of Chennai.

Downtown got in touch with the Councillor when residents of Alwarpet and Mylapore complained of dry pipelines.

The Councillor, Jhansi Rani says:

“Yes, some pockets of Alwarpet, Abhiramapuram and Mylapore have little or no water supply. Metro Water tankers are being despatched to these areas on a daily basis to tide over the crisis. Poor monsoon and a dry Puzhaleri have led to this situation, which is expected to improve when the Mettur dam is opened.”

For help contact the Area Engineer at 81449 30909.

“The higher authorities of Metro Water and the MLA should make their presence felt in such hours of crisis but that does not seem to be the case,” observe residents.

Is anyone listening?

Dry pipelines have become order

of the day.
