As part of Ugadi, Telugu New Year, a nine-day celebration is on at Dakshinachitra, East Coast Road , Muttukadu. The event will feature Pagati Veshalu, a folk theatre native to Telengana and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh. It is also called Bahurupalu. It is usually performed during the day and only three to four persons enact the play. Some of the important characters in this form of art are Dadinamma, Somayaji Somadevamma and Koravanji.
Also, on display are Cheriyal masks and paintings. The festival ends on March 23.
A solo painting exhibition featuring works of artiste S.K. Rajasekar is on at Kadambari Art Gallery, Muttukadu. Rajasekar is an Associate Professor in Fine Art, School of Architecture and Planning in Anna University. He has a masters’ degree in visual communications as well. His works will be on display till March 31.
